Finding Grace Among the Dirty Dishes

Wasn’t feeling too good physically today, but it was very odd – felt quite happy – I just had this joy about me, that regardless of my circumstances I can see the things I need to be grateful for, and rejoice in those.

Tonight I thought – I have eaten – I am blessed.

I have had the opportunity to have three beautiful children – I am blessed.

I have the opportunity to receive a new bed for my daughter – I am blessed.

I have had the opportunity to go to university, a lot of people never get that opportunity.

God has blessed me beyond anything. I truly am thankful. My gratitude and my joy are growing exponentially.

It is ironic really, because on this day 25 years ago, my mother died. God has raised me ever since. How cool is that.

Work in Progress … Journey Not Destination

I have often been reminded that God doesn’t despise, but upholds small beginnings. This year has seen consecutive works being progressed simultaneously, and sometimes it can feel like I am juggling. Each new day unfolds and it becomes something lovely. Tonight I finished all of the “Merciful Answers” … because I believe God has a tremendous heart of Mercy. I also have put up a sermon about what an awesome Mechanic God is … seriously.

God has given me a tremendous amount of mercy lately. Sometimes … actually a lot of the time it has felt like He has cradled me through the first four months of 2014. Each day, a little more work, a little more work. Looking for formal paid work – and dealing with bills and getting out of debt. All of the things that I have written about on Merciful Answers I have lived, or known somebody close who has had to live through these things. But God always has the answers. It is by no means exhaustive, but it is a beginning. With God, He is a God of new beginnings. And so my relationship with God has deepened. In some ways I feel like the prodigal son who has come back to his Father (albeit I am a daughter) and discovered that God has a tremendous heart.

I feel that this online Church project is somehow very close to God’s heart – the Lord is plenteous in mercy – it doesn’t limit His awesomeness and majesty to be merciful; but it deepens it.

To know that as I walk out down the street at night, or twirl around and look at the stars, that in very reality, my Heavenly Father is looking down on me, and that the Holy Spirit is literally with me is something amazing and astounding. He truly is my Comforter, and has given me amazing support this year as I have embarked on this project. If it helps one person know and understand that God deeply loves each and every single person, and sent Jesus to be the propitiation for our sins, and that we can come and have a new beginning with God, then it was incredibly worth it. And so it happens, a rather large project, but it happens by the grace of God. Some of the pages need tweaking, but I invite you to comment to me: I would love to hear from you.

An update on my books:

This week, I have also released on Kindle for under $1 USD a book on weight loss and health – Lose Weight Feel Great – that should really revolutionize a lot of people’s lives. It is a practical book, full of a lot of information on how to lose the weight and keep it off. I share my journey in there, and this weekend it is being offered for free on Amazon. I have also updated a health website – that has access to all my books that have a simple living, health improving, God honoring focus.

Please send me your comments, I would love to hear from you.

Church Planting is For Wimps*

Why? Because God in His grace is infinite.

I have to be one of the biggest fools on the planet, but I am happy about that, because when I am weak, God is at His strongest. He has just carried me through the flu and a very challenging time emotionally. But He is good. I hope you are getting encouragement from somebody walking a real journey. A lot of the life lessons I put together are because I have walked it myself.

I have had to learn to be a friend, and what healthy friendships mean, in order to receive friends. I hope and pray for you that you would have sustaining healthy friendships, and as Paul prayed, beloved, I pray you prosper, even as your soul prospers.

Here is my God given advice, walked out on eliminating loneliness and developing wonderful friendships.

*Book on my wish list 🙂

Church Planting…

Journaling the Graces of God

Having read  One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are by Amy Voskamp, I started a journal prior to the beginning of the new year. Journaling the grace of God is important to help you be fully aware and to experience fullness of joy. Starting a journal brings awareness to you, awareness of the abundance you have, and the myriad of ways God is graceful.

I have also been writing books about random acts of kindness, and putting the word out about my novel. I have also finished the first draft of my manuscript Lose Weight Feel Great. Things are definitely exciting. I have also had to do some tough writing – about sudden trauma and also domestic violence and anger management.

It has reminded me of the ever present grace of God in my life.

But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. King James Version, 1 Corinthians 15:10

It has been hard work. But the grace of God has kept me, sustained me and made me whole and so He deserves the glory, and He deserves the credit. I hope that all these articles and writing give you are real, practical sense of the love and mercy of God. Suddenly out of nowhere God seems to act, when everything seems to be going down the toilet, but He has faithfully promised He would never leave us nor forsake us. Remember that God is for you, and if He is for you, no-one can ever be against you. The Lord of Heaven’s Armies has promised to take care of us, always. His ways are higher than ours, and He is always ever present in our life, making all things work together for good for those who love Him, and He will be exalted among the nations. To be used by God to give Him glory, what a tremendous and powerful privilege.

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Deuteronomy 31:6 King James Version

I encourage you to start journaling about your journey with God. You will see that through the crises, the traumas, the emergencies, the betrayals, the darkness – He has been whispering your name there – ever present, with you. Give Him thanks, for never abandoning you. He is faithful.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. Psalm 23:6, A Psalm of King David. King James Version.

I encourage you to start journaling, you will see that God is good, and that His mercy and goodness surely do follow you, and that His favor surrounds you as a shield. God bless you, and Shalom.

Jesus: The First Founder of the Women’s Liberation Movement.

I just stated something fairly controversial.

But it’s true – Jesus was the first female liberationist.

Am currently reading Christine Caine’s book – Can I Have It All – and it struck me, as she was talking about how women were devalued from the time before Plato – and it occurred to me – Jesus is pro-women!

Even Paul, great preacher he is, former torturer or Christians – values women.

In Galatians, Paul says:

For as many (of you) were baptized into Christ (into a spiritual union and communion with Christ, the Anointed One, the Messiah) have put on (clothed yourselves with) Christ. There is (now no distinction) neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is not male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Wow, what a thought! Consider the actions of Jesus himself – casts out demons out of Mary Magdalene, rescues a woman caught in the act of adultery from being stoned, healed women, and had a whole lot of women travelling around with him to support his ministry.

Considering an ancient Jewish prayer used to say … Blessed be he who did not make me a woman (mind you, there are loads of Jewish women today who are a screaming success and a credit to the land of Israel and their people – the Jews!) Those Jewish women ultimately gained victory over an attitude like that … don’t think that is prayed too often, at least not in the circles I frequent.

The Greek philosophers (that I got an award at high school for studying) – their attitude was pretty scummy towards women too – We cannot escape the pain, for it lives among us. It is our sisters, mothers, our betrothed, our wives, our daughters, our mistresses, our concubines. Furthermore, if we spend our lives in wrongdoing and cowardice, afterward Zeus will send us back into life as a woman (Plato).

SOOO glad I don’t believe in the Greek gods. Hummph.

As we look at the teachings and the lifestyle of Jesus, it was even clear that He was an equal opportunist. There were women amongst the early church, and they were baptised by the Holy Spirit too, while waiting in the upper room.

The first evangelist – Mary Magdelene – He appeared to her in the garden after His resurrection, and she excitedly went off to tell the others that He was alive!!!

It is clear that Jesus gives a good deal of thought to the value, status, preciousness and uniqueness of women. He spoke to them and related to them as friends (scandalous in His times).

Wow. What a man, an equal opportunist, and promoter of women’s value and their purpose.

Glad to serve Him.
